ABS-CBN revealed that Happy Yipee Yehey will be having its last episode on February 4, 2012.

I have watched Happy Yipee Yehey a few times, and I always find myself clicking to another channel since watching the show is ‘painful’. I can feel the strain of everyone in the show following a certain format, throwing jokes that are held back, trying too hard to please the audience.

This is why whenever I have time to watch TV at noon, I prefer Eat Bulaga or some other show in other channels. Eat Bulaga, in comparison, offers free flow of ideas, jokes and friendly discussions, making the show light and fun.

People say it’s because the show has been on air for more than 3 decades that its hosts can already afford to go light and not be try-hards, while others say it’s because the show is light and the hosts aren’t pushing it too hard that made it stay this long. (Chicken or egg, huh?)

She shaved her hair for her role as poetry professor with ovarian cancer in a Manhattan Theatre Club production of Wit. I know the premise behind her new look is supposed to be sad and all, but just please allow me to say this — she is rocking her bald look!

Wit is set to open on January 26 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Nixon, one of the four stars of Sex and the City, also battled breast cancer in 2006. She now serves as an ambassador of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

We’ve seen how many firecracker enthusiasts and even innocent bystanders have been sent to emergency rooms in hospitals because they got hit by a stray Whistle Bomb, or failed to quickly throw the Lolo Thunder before it exploded on their hands (that may have caused them to lose a finger or two), or was standing at the wrong place at the wrong time with a seemingly dead Super Lolo suddenly exploding just when they were passing by an already quiet street.

I remember several years ago, when most of our neighbors were outside throwing Five-Stars on a flaming tire or watching Firecracker Fountains. Even kids got their share of fun with their Watusi.

I must admit that the firecracker ban has its advantages, but I say it also has it down sides. I guess my point is that I really, really hope that someday, our local leaders consider to put up a government-initiated fireworks display for the kids and kids at heart in the city. The firecracker ban should remain in place for everyone’s protection, but would it not be nice to have a really amazing fireworks display for everyone to enjoy as we welcome the new year?

The series is great and I can name a hundred and one reasons I like love this series, but allow me to share my three top reasons.

Now, if there’s only a way to take Valerie Concepcion, who plays Miranda Ramirez, off the series. It’s not because she is a kontrabida, but because she is not playing her part well enough. And Emmanuelle Vera, who plays Bart’s younger sister Yanie Ramirez, needs to know how to control the smile in her eyes — especially when she delivers her sad lines.

According to reports, Coco kissed Maja, his onscreen partner in the ABS-CBN series Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, on the lips. This drove Matteo, who Maja later confirmed is her real life boyfriend, fuming mad. He went after Coco, grabbed and attacked him. Coco fought back, leaving Matteo with a bloody lip.

Maja, after admitting her relationship with Matteo on the showbiz-oriented talk show The Buzz, said she is not sure where their relationship is heading after the incident.

Star Magic, in an official press release, said what happened was just a case of “misunderstanding,” and that Coco and Matteo are both sorry for it.

Matteo issued an apology in Happy Yipee Yehey on Monday, saying “I’m very, very sorry for what happened. It was a very unnecessary matter. Sorry talaga sa nangyari. Sa lahat ng fans, mga bosses namin, sorry po talaga. Tita Cory, Sir Deo, nandun sila. Sa lahat ng tao na naapektuhan, the biggest sorry. I’m very sad.”

John Estrada, one of Happy Yipee Yehey‘s main hosts, maintained a neutral stand as he is also working with Coco in Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin. He said “Coco, welcome kang pumunta rito sa Happy Yipee Yehey para ibigay ang panig mo. Hindi lang ito para sa panig ni Matt.”
