Latest Target: DSLR Camera

As of yet, we are still using a Canon IXUS, which we have bought way back in 2007, for our photo needs. We have been contemplating, though, on getting a new camera with much better performance.

Canon DSLRRight now, we’re looking into getting a Digital SLR camera. Many have told us this is the best way to go to capture professional quality photos. I have to admit that looking at some friends lugging their huge DSLRs both in official events and in personal trips can be quite intimidating. The idea of losing, breaking or even getting a scratch on those pricey gadgets can also be scary, especially if you have purchased it with your hard-earned savings.

Aside from the cost of the body of the camera, we need to buy lens too — which does not come cheap; the cost of which can actually already buy you a simple digital camera! However, many have advised that it is best to focus and invest more on good lens than on the body of the camera. Manufacturers regularly change camera bodies to include recent technological updates while the lens can be used for a really long time.

In terms of brand, there may only be two options for us — Canon and Nikon. These are the brand names that made it to the top 2 when we did an informal survey among our friends. Occasionally, we hear Olympus and Sony, but Canon and Nikon have been leading by miles so far.

We are so excited about taking another step further in photography. Of course, we do realize that getting great photos does not solely depend on having a good camera and the right lens. It will also take skill, vision and patience on the part of the photographer.

Do you want the camera to control all your exposures and be stuck with only one lens and a small sensor?
