SmartBro Connection: Unreliable and Inefficient


We have a Fixed Wireless SmartBro connection at home, and I am extremely disappointed with how the connection has been performing in the past 3 weeks or so.

We have been experiencing frequent interruptions since the month started. By “frequent”, I mean every 10 or 15 minutes, the connection goes down then it goes back up again for another 10 or 15 minutes. How frustrating!

What is more disturbing is that starting the past week, we have experienced interruptions for as long as 1 day or even more! Calling the hotline several times almost everyday proves to be futile since the agents tell us the same things (“please unplug and plug back again”, “there’s a problem with the base station, please monitor within the next few hours”, “please connect it directly” — which we have always followed until we got tired of hearing the same things over and over again). They cannot give us a more lasting solution to our problem.

Finally, last week, an agent scheduled a team to check our cables at home and see if our cables are faulty. The technicians arrived, checked the cables and said everything was alright, and that it must be the base station. Ugh!

Just this weekend, our connection was down for more than 36 hours! I had to look for a nearby internet cafe to do the work that urgently needs my attention as well as the backlogs that resulted from days and days of unreliable internet connection. It is a great inconvenience to have to go to an internet cafe for our internet needs (unsafe, limited access to files, difficulty in retrieving past info, costly, etc), given that we have subscribed to an internet connection at home.

The agent and the technician who visited us recommended that we ask for a rebate. So, alright, I requested for a rebate. But more than that, I ask for an immediate and more lasting solution to our problem. Internet connection is crucial to my work, and the rebate that SmartBro will be giving (even if they give a full month’s refund) will be minimal compared to what we are losing due to the inefficient internet service that we are currently receiving.

Also, would it not be better if, in the event that they think that this problem cannot be resolved in the earliest possible time, they can just be honest with their customers (tell us if the base station is really screwed up) so we can check our other options? That would only be fair, don’t you agree?

We are actually now looking for other internet service providers so we can hopefully say ‘adios’ to SmartBro’s unreliable, inefficient internet service.

    I paid in advance around P1000.00 and yet there’s no connection what’s worse I cannot get the 1000 I paid because the bill was named to somebody else… lugi kana.. kapoy na gukod..

    I have a terrible experience with Smart Bro. It crawls so slowly, it almost seems like I’m not connected at all. I’ve tried different times of the day and different days. Awful. It’s basically useless. I need a refund for this one.

    kainis ang smartbro, useless ang binabayad natin. sobrang bagal na nga, lagi pang disconnected. pakiayos naman ang serbisyo nyo. perwisyo!!!

    We have actually cut off our SmartBro connection this month and requested for a rebate. Sa halos araw araw na walang connection, konti lang ang rebate na inapprove, pero hindi na namin tinanong pa yung rebate computation. Basta maputol na ang connection at wala na kaming SmartBro na problemahin, bahala na yung rebates.

    every 5 mins nawawalan ako ng net for 1 minute..and speed ko hindi lumalagpas ng 50 kbps usual speed is 20 kbps..

    kakakabet ko lang ng smart bro nung april 20, 2010 first week wala ako net 2nd week evry other nawawalan ng net the following weeks ayan na paputol putol na na sobrang bagal..ayaw nila magrefund..

    siningil pa ako nung mga nag-install ng 680 how’s that?!

    I’ve been experiencing very low connection with my smart bro connection.
    Internet is not related to my job so i just ignored it sometimes.
    But it is still not OK that they are advertising at most 2MBPS when it is average at 20KBPS.

    to smartcare..if you are smart and if you do care, do something!!!

    Kun may ngipin lang sana ang batas na mag protect sa mga katulad nating consumer, matagal na bankrup ang SmartBro sa dami nilang damages na causes sa kanilang crap service.

    Totoo yun.. I don’t have any major problem with smartbro last year but now.. nakakakinis.. Every 5 minutes or less napuputol ang connection.. Nakakadisappoint dahil I am regular payee nila.. walang paltos but their service is sucks.. but if u want to get it disconnected your subscriptions prior sa contract they will ask a payment.. Ano ba yan!!!..

    Tamaaaa. Smart Bro’s Service SUCKS… Dito Samin.. Every 10 Minutes Din nag Dodown yung Connection And Then… Super Bagal.. It Sucks…

    SABI KASI NILA 2MBPS.. Eh sa Nakikita ko.. parang KBPS LANG EH Baka nga 100 KBPS lang Ang Internet Speed ng Service nila :D

    I was amazed sa kanilang advertisement na up to mbps. Ok lang ang connection pag mdaling araw lang. Madaling araw ka lang rin pwede magbrowse. pagdating ng umaga hanggang gabi, wala ka na tlgang maasahan sa bwisit na SMART BROKEN ISP..
    Nagpakabit ako last December 12, 2010. Nagrereport ako palagi sa problema ng internet connection ko sa Customer Care nila pero wala naman silang aksyon na ginagawa. Walang silbi tlga ang kanilang Customer Service. nakakabwisit tlga.. nagreport narin ako sa NTC. pati ang NTC wala ring silbi. Problema tlga ang smart. Pano ko mapapaputol ang Smart Bro ko. kakainis. Gusto ko na tlga madisconnect ito.
