Toyota Recalls Cars in Several Countries!
In the past couple of months, Toyota has recalled millions of vehicles from different parts of the world due to a potentially faulty accelerator pedal. There were several complaints about the vehicles’ sudden acceleration, unintended continuous acceleration or lack of deceleration.
The recall has affected North America (including the US), Europe, Canada, Middle East, China, and some other parts of Asia.
The world’s biggest carmaker, which has built its reputation on safety and reliability, is now facing several lawsuits from all over the world while struggling to contain damages from its massive auto recall.
Affected Toyota models are:
* certain 2009-2010 RAV4
* certain 2009-2010 Corolla
* 2009-2010 Matrix
* 2005-2010 Avalon
* certain 2007-2010 Camry

The multitude of Toyota car recalls are causing untold damage to their brand equity. 2.3 million automobiles in the United States to fix sticking gas pedals. over 4 million automobiles in the US to rectify pedals getting lodged under floor mats. 690,000 cars in China imperfect electrical window switches. Toyota managers on Television to apologise for recall and still the press highlight problems as the company gets more distressed. I question how much brand value this has cost them.

Toyota executives are currently testifying before Congress about the safety issues that have led to the recall of millions of vehicles. They insist that “We are confident that no problems exist with the electronic throttle control system in our vehicles.”

Lets not forget that Obama has always been a friend of the auto unions. It might be a coincdence, but there is no better way to pay back the unions than by knocking off the top non-union car manufacturer.

The rumored extended range electric crossover we saw revealed in General Motors’ design patent drawings is now a reality. The Chevrolet Volt MPV5 concept will make its debut tomorrow at the Beijing Motor Show, and just as we suspected from seeing Volt design chief Bob Boniface’s name on the patent, this five-passenger crossover rides on the same Voltec architecture as the Volt. The new Chevrolet concept integrates design elements from the Volt, including the headlight, taillamps and grille, with a five-door hatch body style very similar to the larger Orlando and a length about four inches longer than the current HHR.
