4-year-old Child Suspended for Long Hair, and So?
First point: I don’t think this is the child’s battle. This is the parents’ issue on the school and they’re using the child.
Second point: Dad said, “I don’t see why I should be required to hold my child against his will and cut his hair”. Er, Dad, you do that – hold your child against his will – everyday. Don’t be a hypocrite. Otherwise, how could a parent instill good values to the child if you let him just run around and do what he wants every time?
Third point: While the school’s policies may not be the best idea of all, the policies were still very clear. So, why did he bring his child to study at that school if he does not agree with their policies? Uhm, to get an interview with AP?

School officials in suburban Dallas have given an in-school suspension to 4-year-old Taylor Pugh because his hair is considered too long. Pugh’s parents say officials are ‘more concerned with the boy’s hair than his education.’

We live in a free country with socially acceptable “norms” Are we really arguing about hair? The same argument that errupted in the 60’s when long hair was inappropriate on men? We have violence in the streets, children using drugs, children on violent rampages in schools and an administration focuses on the length of hair of a 4 year old? He’s only four for Heaven’s sake how long can it be? Many times in life we must comply with expections for certain situations, but as a kid, let them have freedom, soon they will be adults and have fewer and fewer choices of free will but more decisions of responsibility. Personally I HATE long hair on men. My son has often grown his out. He is so handsome with it trimmed up and nice and neat. But the long and short of it (pun intended) it doesn’t limit or define who he is.That administration must have a school FULL of perfect children to be able to focus this much time and attention on this issue.
