Presidentiables Amidst Philippine Tragedies

Basically, the Presidentiables for the 2010 elections are Erap, Gibo, Manny and Noynoy. Most Filipinos who truly care are battling over whom to vote this May 2010. With the events that transpired in the country, especially tragedies like the typhoon tandem Ondoy-Pepeng and the Maguindanao massacre, we must have seen the candidate who has offered solutions more than mere relief goods (with their names or photos in the donation bags) or letters condemning the barbaric acts.

I am not against candidates distributing rice and canned goods to the typhoon victims. I acknowledge that it was truly admirable for people to go out of their way to offer help. But we’re talking about the Presidency here. We need someone who can do more than just organize relief activities or draft letters and official statements. We need a leader who can provide us direction and can motivate us to follow that path. We need a leader who knows what to do and when to do it.

The surveys are not so friendly with the Administration candidate simply because of his affiliation to the current President. However, I believe that if we really want to achieve a better Philippines, we need to re-consider and focus not on candidates who have the most celebrity supporters, but on those who can deliver not just speeches, but results.
