Bamboo Taxis in Leyte Make Good Green Cars

I must say that this is probably one of the most brilliant creations of Philippine ingenuity. While huge car manufacturers in the United States, Japan and Europe try to come up with a green car (that which is truly environment-friendly), the Philippines was able to build this.

Bamboo Taxi from Leyte, Philippines

This image, featured at Autoblog Green, shows a cab that residents of Leyte have come up with to address the concerns on environmental degradation and the impact of transportation to climate change.

The body is made of bamboo and it runs on biodiesel. It’s strong enough to carry passengers, although it cannot, of course, compete against regular vehicles in terms of speed. I wonder if they have a special car wash service for this. :)
