Earth Hour 2010: Turn Off Your Lights!

March 15th, 2010

It’s time for Earth Hour once again. Actually, we should always make every hour Earth Hour — not in the sense of putting our lights off forever, but of thinking about what’s good for Earth all the time.

In unity with the world, this blogger asks everyone who comes to read this post to please (please please please!) turn off your lights for one hour starting 8:30pm (local time, wherever you are) on March 27, 2010, Saturday.

You may also show your support by spreading the word. Post something about it on your blog, Facebook page, Twitter page, MySpace page, and other social networking sites. The Earth Hour official site has widgets, banners, posters and wallpapers for everyone to use and share.

If you’re not so much into doing things online, you can help spread the word by telling your friends in the office, in school, in your neighborhood or in anywhere you may be. We can do something for Earth and no matter how small we think our contribution is, always remember that it will matter. When everyone in the world gives a little, Earth receives much.

Getting Ready for a New Baby

March 15th, 2010

babyOne of our good friends is expecting her baby this month, and she’s all too ready for everything that her baby would need. She found good online stores to buy baby stuff and she had them all covered — from clothes, feeding bottles and diapers to bouncer baby, cribs and mattresses. She also found a few discount vouchers to enjoy some savings here and there.

Of course, she deliberately left out some items in her shopping list hoping for godparents, uncles and aunts to provide the other stuff the baby needs. Smart, huh? We are very happy for them and we wish the new baby lots of love and a beautiful life ahead.

March 5th, 2010

Zipel Massimo ZucchiSamsung Electronics Co. has unveiled a new side-by-side high-end refrigerator model that is equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities! The model is named after its Italian designer Zipel Massimo Zucchi.

What makes this new refrigerator model really interesting is that it has a built-in 10-inch touch screen that is capable of Internet surfing. Owners can pull up online recipes and nutritional information for different types of food without much hassle. It also allows display of Google Calendar entries, news and weather reports, or of a slideshow of your favorite family photos.

For now, this is available only in South Korea, commanding a whopping price of 2.49 million won or roughly $2,182. It will be available globally starting late this month.

Miss You Like Crazy Movie Review

March 2nd, 2010

In the first quarter of the movie, I thought Sarah Geronimo would have done a better job as Mia Samonte in “Miss You Like Crazy“. The first few scenes showed a “cute” female lead character, so it was difficult for me not to imagine Sarah as the female lead. However, as the rest of the movie unfolds, I realized no one can do this better than Bea Alonzo. She is a powerful and intense actress, and the rest of the movie was just that — intense.

miss-you-like-crazyI would say that the movie was good, but I cannot say it was able to surpass the impact that “One More Chance” made. “One More Chance” also had John Lloyd Cruz (as Popoy) and Bea (as Basha) and it was also directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, so I expected much from this new project from what I consider a “power trio”. After all, their projects “Close to You” and “One More Chance” were great movies worth watching again and again.

I think the main strength of the movie was also its weakness. It focused on the reality that love is not the only reason for relationships to last or to end. They were probably right, but the romantic side of me (which is the one wanting to watch the movie, in the first place) would have preferred it another way –  a way that shows how truly powerful love can be.

Anyway, the movie was still very good and worth watching — but I’m not sure I would want to watch it again. I think once is enough for me this time. ;)
