Wowowee gets axed

It’s official: Willie Revillame is not returning to Wowowee, because the show is getting cancelled.

In its place will be “Pilipinas, Win na Win”, a similarly-formatted noontime show to be headlined by Robin Padilla and Kris Aquino. Like Wowowee, the new program will be a game and variety show, to be shown right after the ratings giant Showtime. The new show will start on Saturday, July 31, 2010.

Joining Robin and Kris are Wowowee alums Pokwang, Mariel Rodriguez, and Valerie Concepcion. Pilipinas For The Win will come from the same team who brought us Wowowee: Director Johnny Manahan and creative director Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz.

This strong statement came from discussions by ABS-CBN head honchos, amidst rumors that Willie Revillame is returning to his five-year noontime show.

Willie Revillame Back to Wowowee

July 23rd, 2010

willie revillameI’m not sure if this is good news or bad news to most people, but Cristy Fermin, one of Willie Revillame’s closest allies, has confirmed that the controversial host is set to return to the set of Wowowee. The comeback is reportedly due to the declining ratings of the once top noontime show, which actually provides the lead-in to the afternoon and primetime shows of ABS-CBN.

Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Head, stresses, though, that these are mere speculations and that Willie remains on “indefinite leave” while the network weighs in all its options.

With these, several questions surface — Does Cristy Fermin really possess the kind of credibility to back her statements? Is ABS-CBN willing to undergo the same harassment from Willie when he again feels like throwing a tantrum in the future? Do majority of the TV viewers really want Willie to come back?

0844One effective way to ensure that customers stay with you for a long time is providing them with quality and reliable customer service. Many companies have already opted to use 0844 Numbers, a prefix that allows callers to pay local rates. Other similar numbers are 0800, 0871 and 0845.

President Noynoy Aquino’s Salary

July 22nd, 2010

If you’re curious about the salary of the current President of the Philippines, then here is the info you need — President Noynoy Aquino will be receiving P95,000/month.

PNoyFor those who think this amount is too low for all the work demands and responsibilities of the chief executive of the land, know that his immediate predecessor President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo received P57,750/month.

This salary increase is brought about by Executive Order No. 900, signed by Arroyo just days before her term ended, which implements an increase in the basic pay in all government salary grades. The President’s salary is equivalent to Salary Grade 33 (SG 33), the salary grade for the highest position in the Philippine government.

One cannot help but wonder then why a lot of people vie for top government positions when the salaries are mere fractions of the pay top executives in private companies receive while the responsibilities and pressures are more than sky-high. To genuinely help the people? Nah, that sounds like a broken campaign record.
